St. Louis Rams @ Oakland Raiders -3.5
This line opened at -4
My Pick: St. Louis Rams
The Oakland Raiders cannot stop the run, so expect Steven Jackson, who showed good speed and burst in week 1 against the Cardinals to go over 100 yards on the ground in this contest. Jackson will relieve some of the pressure on Sam Bradford, which will in turn open up the passing game.
The rams don’t have a good defense, but they are improved over last years squad, with a healthy ballhawking safety in OJ Atogwe who was able to force a fumble in last weeks contest. The Rams forced 7 fumbles last week, and the Raiders put the ball on the ground 4 times. Which makes it quite clear that the Raiders won’t go fumble free in this game.
For the Raiders to have a chance in covering the spread, they must pound the ball at will with McFadden and Bush. McFadden looked good on the ground last game with 95 yards on 18 carries, but most of those yards came in the second half when the Titans had already put the game away.
I think this game will be very close, with either team winning by a field goal, so I’d take the points the Rams are laying in this contest.
Final Score: Rams 20 Raiders 17.
