I think both of these teams last week proved that they are for real. The 49ers raped, murdered, raped (again), and then shit all over the Buccaneers last Sunday. Meanwhile the Lions beat the Bears in one of the sloppiest games I've seen in quite a while. Jahvid Best finally decided to wake up and average more than 2 inches per carry.
The Lions offense is among the best in the league so far this year. Their one glaring problem is that they have soft runningbacks. I like what Jahvid Best does for them, but they definitely need a strong powerful runner for a change of pace and for short yardage downs. I have a beef now too, I've been playing "the Madden" recently and Calvin Johnson is not the highest rated wide receiver in that game. That is quite bullshit indeed.
The Lions defense has been surprisingly stingy this year. Or well, I guess it's kind of expected I mean, they do have the baddest motha' fucka' in the NFL Ndamukong Suh. Suh and Nick Fairley are going to be the best duo in the NFL in 5 years, or probably like 2 years because Suh is already the best. He just has to wait for Fairley to catch up.
I may have been wrong about the 49ers at the start of the season, but I have been talking about how good their defense is since week 1. That defense is good, and Patrick Willis is the new Ray Lewis. They're 2nd in points allowed and 5th in rushing yards against. They only allow 76.4 rush yards per game which is like 3 yards from being ranked 2nd, 1st ranked is the Cowboys letting up a ridiculously low 61.8.

Bottom Line: I think the Lions are the better overall team. San Francisco also has to make a cross country trip for this game and that never helps. The Lions defense will be able to shut down Frank Gore which will shut down the 49ers offense. While there is no known way apart from Optimus Prime to shut down Megatron.
