Philadelphia Eagles -3 Over New York Giants
Last week Michael Vick made History, this week he looks to legitimize his MVP contention. Against the Redskins Vick absolutely went off, dropping 6 touchdowns all before the 4th quarter, his was a feat that may never again be replicated in the NFL. The Giants last week lost in an upset to the dreadful Cowboys.
Offensively the Eagles are a pass happy offense that runs a west coast style. Lesean McCoy is the lead runningback for the Eagles and has been having a great season so far. Desean Jackson is their stud receiver who was the recipient of the hit that has led to the NFL tackle reform. He has since shook off the resulting concussion and come back to play at a high level.
The Giants offensively run what I would call a "Run N' Gun" system. They like to pound the run and then work off of play action and go deep. Second year wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is having a huge season and should make the Pro Bowl this year. Eli Manning leads this offense and is having his career year so far leading the league with 19 passing touchdowns.
On defense the eagles have maintained the same style they had under the late, great Jim Johnson, and that style is attack. They want to kill the opposing Quarterback on almost every snap they take with one of the leagues highest blitz percentages.
The Giants defense like Philly puts a lot of pressure on the opposing Quarterback. However the pressure they get is usually from the defensive line.
Expert Pick: This will be a high scoring game, Vick won't have the same success as he did on Monday night against the Redskins but eventually will make enough plays to pull it out.
