San Diego Chargers -10 Over San Francisco 49ers
Last Sunday in spectacular fashion the San Diego Chargers laid the wood to the Chiefs to show who has superiority in the AFC West. This week the Chargers will be taking on the 49ers on NFL Networks Thursday Night football featuring the worst announcing crew ever. Seriously hearing Matt Millen and Joe Theisman every Thursday night is nothing short of torture, Bob Papa isn't terrible though.
The Chargers offense has…. Philip Rivers and pretty much noone else, its been a revolving door at runningback for them this season, and i dont think I could name one of their starting wide receivers this week. Actually nevermind, Vincent Jackson is back and should be getting into better football shape so the Chargers can have a real target in the passing game even while Antonio Gates is out rehabbing one of his 50 injuries.
The 49ers offense is brutal, last week they brought back Alex Smith whom they had already benched for Troy Smith. Alex had a pretty good game last week laying a smackdown on the Seahawks with 3 touchdowns. Regardless of his play last week Smith is still a terrible quarterback who will never be any good against a team outside of the NFC West.
Defensively The Chargers have been surprisingly good this year. They are 1st in the league in overall yards against per game, and only 11th in points against per game. They are showing that they are better off without Steroid Junky Shawne Merriman who spent 10 minutes in practice with the Bills before going to IR earlier this season.
The 49ers defense led by All Pro linebacker Patrick "Whatchu talkin 'bout" Willis (who is questionable this week) has been Ok so far this year they are 9th in the league against the rush and 11th in overall yards against while standing 18th in points against.
My Take: The Chargers are a much better team, and the 49ers have no hope of playoffs, I see this one being a laugher as the Chargers dominate from the opening snap.
