Chicago Bears +1 Over Miami Dolphins
It seems like every week I'm on here writing about the Chicago Bears, (un)fortunately I'll be doing it again this week as the Bears are set to take on the Dolphins Thursday night. Last weekend the Bears took care of business against ailing division rival Minnesota in a game that could decide the NFC North. Miami last week took Tennessee out behind the woodshed even though they were without their top 2 Quarterbacks for most of the game; it takes a special team to go 3 deep at QB and still win a game.
Offensively for the Bears (I know I've said it every time but I'll say it again) THEY NEED TO GET MATT FORTE THE BALL. Forte is one of their best playmakers on offense yet he doesn't get the amount of touches he needs to be truly effective. I don't care if they run with him or pass to him but, in the words of Keyshawn Johnson, "Get him the damn ball."
Offensively this season the Dolphins have been bad, they brought in Brandon Marshall in the offseason to be a weapon but they haven't been able to get him the ball. I believe bad Quarterback play is the culprit behind this but, the offensive line and running backs shoulder some of the blame as well.
Defensively the Bears are back, they may not be the 85 Bears or even the 06 Bears but they are a solid unit (heh solid unit). Julius Peppers is back to playing at a Pro Bowl level even though he doesn't have the sacks to show for it.
The Dolphins have played well on the defensive side of the ball this year, currently sitting in 8th for yards against and 13th for points against. Offseason Acquisition Karlos Dansby has been a force in his first season with the Dolphins.
Expert Pick : This should be a very defensive game unless these teams start using the weapons I mentioned above, either way Chicago takes it. I expect a 10 point victory from Da Bears.
