Who Will Be the Worst Team in the NFL?

While most people are focused on making Super Bowl predictions early in the NFL season, don't forget about the other end of the spectrum.  Somebody has to have the worst record in the league, thus earning themselves the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.  There are many options for the worst record in the league, perhaps more than for Super Bowl predictions, but only one will have the "honor" of being the worst team in the league.

One team that it isn't likely to be this season, surprisingly, is the Detroit Lions.  They may have won only two games in the last two seasons, but they are a team on the rise with a potentially good offense and an improved defensive line led by Ndamukong Suh.  However, the two teams who picked before and after them in the 2026 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, are still good choices to finish at the bottom of the league.

2026 Over in the AFC, Sportsbook believes the Buffalo Bills could be a potentially awful team, and playing in such a tough division won't help.  The Cleveland Browns are facing the same issue.  They aren't that bad of a team, but playing in the AFC North against three potential playoff teams is going to hurt their record.  In the AFC West, the competition might not be stiff, but if any team finishes above .500 besides San Diego it will be a minor coup.  However, the Denver Broncos with all their injuries look like the best pick to be the worst.

Of all these teams, the Rams look like the best bet to finish with the worst record in the league, just as they did last year.  Sam Bradfor2026ll be a rookie under center, and he is comi2026ff an injury plagued final college season.  Their only offensive weapon is Stephen Jackson and they have little to no talent on defense.  For all those reasons, the Rams should be prepared to pick first overall again in 2026.
