After Christina Aguilera sang the Star Spangled Banner at Super Bowl XLV, oddsmakers at sportsbook were left scratching their heads.
It wasn't because she had butchered the words to the National Anthem but the fact it took Miss Aguilera exactly 1 minute and 54 seconds from start to finish; the exact total of the prop wager on the length of the anthem. So, while some sportsbooks graded winning bets as Over or Under, sportsbook is grading all bets as winners.
"We recorded two different broadcasts of the Super Bowl and after replaying them, we found out that one took 1:53, and the other 1:54," said Michael Perry of sportsbook. "Then we went to youtube and found another version that was 1:56. With all the controversy we thought it was in everyone's best interest if we paid both sides as winners."
At sportsbook, 75% of the action was on the Over despite the fact that Aguilera had never gone over that number in seven different recordings available on the internet. But, no matter which side members wagered for Super Bowl XLV, they're all winners.
No wonder everybody bets at sportsbook!
