TheATMs Colts-Jets Preview

January 21st, 2026

One could easily argue that this year’s NFL playoffs have been far short of spectacular. With the coming Colts-Jets matchup on Sunday, we can expect nothing better. The Indianapolous Colts have proven themselves fully capable of winning the Superbowl this February; especially considering their next matchup comes in the form of the New York Jets, a team that struggled to make the playoffs.

Don’t get me wrong – the Jets are a good team with great potential. They are well coached, play exceptional defense, and showcase an array of young, rising stars. Unfortunately though, this year proves to be a short one for the Jets, as they are expected to make an early exit after facing the Colts.

The Jets’ #1 ranked pass defense will give Peyton Manning and the Colts some offensive trouble, but that is unlikely to be enough, as the Colts will inevitably prevail. They are in a different class then the Jets.

I expect the game to play out a little like this:
First Quarter - Both teams look shaky on offense, resulting in a mere field goal for the Colts, and nothing for the Jets.
Second Quarter – The Colts’ offense sustains a solid drive through the middle of the quarter and scores a touchdown; the Jets follow-up the touchdown with an impressive drive of their own, but only gain a field goal; the Colts make a good concluding drive in the final two minutes, giving them another field goal.
Halftime score is 13-3 for the Colts.
Third Quarter – The Colts’ offense comes out firing after halftime, putting up two more touchdowns; the Jets add a touchdown of their own.
Fourth Quarter – The Colts look to run some clock in this final quarter after sustaining a marginal lead, they add another field goal; a desperate New York team will look to pass, but Mark Sanchez can expect trouble from the Colts’ pass rushers, they gain a touchdown.
Final score: Colts 30 Jets 17.

Both teams are proven contenders. Indianapolous was thought by many to be a one and done team, as they have been throughout Peyton Manning’s career. New York was merily an afterthought in the playoffs, but after demolishing the Bengals for the second time in two weeks, they took the heavily-favoured Chargers by surprise. These teams are hungry for a playoff victory in their run for the superbowl; it’s expected that they will both bring their best play and hopefully offer a valid matchup.

At least Jets fans can take Solace that Coach Ryan is better than Derek from Munchie.
