(1) Cleveland Cavaliers vs. (8) Chicago Bulls
Don’t let the fact that Chicago won 2 games against the Cavaliers this season fool you. They were merely 1 point victories that showcased their stamina and tenacity, as oppose to their skill and depth. Cleveland will quite likely run through this series as they did in the first and second rounds of last year’s playoffs.

(2) Orlando Magic vs. (7) Charlotte Bobcats
This match-up could be closer than many would suspect, especially considering both teams are among the top defenders in the league. However, the Bobcats have trouble shooting the ball (28th in the league for field goal percentage) and are prone to turnovers (2nd only to the Timberwolves for most in the league). If the Magic can keep Howard out of foul trouble and get good three-point looks, then they should easily move on to the second round.

(3) Atlanta Hawks vs. (6) Milwaukee Bucks
Losing Andrew Bogut was a big loss for Milwaukee, but fortunately for them, he wasn’t a big factor in the 2 games he played against the Hawks. He scored 14 and 9, respectively, while only shooting 41% from the field. If the Bucks get help from Jennings and Salmons, their primary scorers, then they could certainly challenge Atlanta and win the series.

(4) Boston Celtics vs. (5) Miami Heat
This could easily be the most entertaining first round match-up in the Eastern Conference. Despite a rather disappointing season for the Boston Celtics – especially as of late – expect them to come out strong, as this may very well be their last chance at a championship run. But the Miami Heat are certainly capable of upsetting the veterans, specifically because they have Dwayne Wade leading their offense. This series will come down to sheer will and determination.
