Two teams in the National League's Wildcard race lock horns in St. Louis this weekend. The Cardinals play host to the San Francisco Giants in what promises to be a thrilling three days of Baseball. St. Louis is still on the heels of Cincinnati in the NL Central but Cardinals fans know they may need to rely on the Wildcard this year to make the post-season. The Giants meanwhile find themselves trailing San Diego in the NL West and it will take a strong run-in if they are to catch the Padres. This three game set could affect both divisional races and the Wildcard chase.
Jake Westbrook will be favored to take the decision for St. Louis on Friday, having shown tremendous consistency this season. The same can't be said for Tim Lincecum, who starts for the Giants on Saturday. San Francisco's ace has been out of sorts lately and needs to raise his game if the Giants plan on playing March Baseball. I like him to pick up the win on Saturday but the Cardinals should have enough to take the series by winning on Sunday. Bet on St. Louis to win big with Sports Interaction.
The Dodgers welcome the Reds to Los Angeles in another battle between the NL West and NL Central. Johnny Cueto, who has an 11-3 record, is on the rotation this weekend for Cincinnati. With control of the division at stake, I like the Reds to take two out of three in this series.
Moving over to the American League, Tampa Bay return to Oakland this weekend. Tampa Bay was on the receiving end of Dallas Braden's perfect game when the Rays visited the As in March. Braden will have it all to do on Sunday against Matt Garza, who put in a great showing on Tuesday against Texas. I like Braden to continue his own recent run good form and get a win for Oakland on Sunday. The Rays should however do enough to pick up two wins and take the series. Bet on Tampa Bay to win big with Sports Interaction.
Finally looking at the AL Central race, Minnesota has a chance to create some breathing room at the top this weekend. The Twins look hot at the minute and should have too much for the Angels in their three game series. Look for Brian Duensing and Kevin Slowey to win their starts for Minnesota. Scott Baker has the talent to rebound from a poor showing last time out and I like him to complete the sweep on Sunday. Bet on Minnesota to win big with Sports Interaction.
